Joseph Wang Yumei
About Joseph Wang Yumei
Joseph Wang Yumei was a Catholic community leader from Majiazhuang in Hebei. The received church account places him among a group of villagers arrested when Boxer forces entered the settlement in July 1900.
The captives were told to abandon their religion or face death. Joseph refused and was the first of this group to be killed. Other villagers were held overnight before their own deaths. He was canonized in 2000 with the Chinese martyrs.
