About Laurence Han I-hyong
Laurence Han I-hyong came from Deoksan in Chungcheong Province. He became a Catholic while young and married a Catholic woman. They lived at Euni near Yangji.
Laurence helped people in need with food and clothing. Bishop Laurence Imbert appointed him a catechist.
During the persecution of 1846, Laurence was arrested at Euni and transferred to Seoul. He refused to abandon Catholicism despite severe punishment.
He died in Seoul on September 20, 1846. The church account leaves the precise manner of death uncertain between beating and strangulation.
