Lidano of Sezze
About Lidano of Sezze
Lidano was a Benedictine monk associated first with Montecassino and later with the countryside around Sezze. The diocesan account places his birth at Antena, now Civita d’Antino.
Church tradition connects him with the foundation of Santa Cecilia’s monastery and work to reclaim marshy land. Cardinal José Saraiva Martins recalled this combination of monastic life, practical labour and evangelization in a 2004 homily at Sezze.
He is honoured as patron of Sezze and co-patron of its diocese, with a feast on July 2.
