Mary Du Tianshi
About Mary Du Tianshi
Mary Du Tianshi was a Catholic mother in the village of Du in Hebei. Her household included two sons and three daughters. The received church account remembers her with her daughter Magdalene Du Fengju during the Boxer uprising.
When attackers entered the village, members of the family hid near a pond covered with reeds. Mary and her sons were discovered and killed after refusing to abandon their faith. Magdalene was also killed, while another daughter escaped. She was canonized in 2000 with the Chinese martyrs.
