Mary Du Zhaozhi
About Mary Du Zhaozhi
Mary Du Zhaozhi came from a Catholic family in Qifengzhuang, in Hebei. She married Du Taiyuan and lived at Dujiatun. The church biography remembers her household religious practice and notes that one of her sons later became a priest.
During the Boxer uprising, she was visiting a cousin and his wife at Wangjiatian when attackers found them. The received account describes their acknowledgment of Catholic faith and refusal to abandon it before they were killed. She was canonized in 2000 with the Chinese martyrs.
