Mary Wang Lishi

About Mary Wang Lishi
Mary Wang Lishi was a Catholic woman from Hebei who attempted to flee her village with two children during the Boxer uprising. They encountered attackers along the road. Neighbours who were not Catholic tried to save her by persuading the fighters that she was not a believer.
The received account says that Mary acknowledged her Catholic faith despite their intervention. She was killed at Daning in July 1900. She was canonized in 2000 with the Chinese martyrs.
