About Patrick Dong Bodi
Patrick Dong Bodi was born in Guchengyin, Shanxi, in 1882. He was the eldest of four sons in a Catholic family. In 1893 he entered the junior seminary at Dongergou, and two years later he continued his studies at the seminary in Taiyuan. He also became a Franciscan tertiary.
Dong was still a seminarian when he was killed in Taiyuan on 9 July 1900 with members of the Catholic community. His death belongs to the July execution, distinct from the later attack in which members of his family died. He was canonized in 2000.
