About Paul Liu Jinde
Paul Liu Jinde was born in the Hengshui district of Hebei in 1821. He belonged to a practicing Catholic family. When attacks threatened the local community in 1900, many neighbors left to find safety, while Liu and his son stayed behind.
He was killed near Lang-Tze-kiao on 13 July 1900, at the age of seventy-nine. He was beatified in 1955. He was canonized in 2000 with the Chinese martyrs.
