Paul Wu Anju

About Paul Wu Anju
Paul Wu Anju was a Catholic grandfather from Xihetou in Hebei. During the Boxer uprising, he took members of his household to Xiaoluyi to seek safety. The group included his grandsons John Baptist Wu Mantang and Paul Wu Wanshu.
In June 1900, the family hid in bushes outside the village as Boxer forces approached. They were discovered and questioned about their religion. The church account records their refusal to abandon their Catholic faith and the killing of all nine people together. He was canonized in 2000 with the Chinese martyrs.
