About Peter Li Quanhui
Peter Li Quanhui was born in Chentuncun, Hebei, in 1837. He and his younger brother Raymond belonged to the village's Catholic community. During the violence of 1900, Peter sought refuge in marshland near his home.
The church account relates that he was discovered and told to renounce his faith. He refused and was killed. Raymond was also killed during the attacks. The consulted accounts differ about whether these deaths fell in June or July, so the year alone is retained here. Peter was canonized in 2000 with the Chinese martyrs.
