Peter Nam Kyong-mun

About Peter Nam Kyong-mun
Peter Nam Kyong-mun was born in Seoul in 1796. After receiving baptism during illness, he practiced Catholicism and became a catechist.
He had worked as a soldier and later sold salted clams. He helped missionaries visit Catholic gathering places.
The encyclopedia records that Peter denied his religion to obtain release during the persecution of 1839. He later returned to religious practice and helped Andrew Kim Tae-gon.
Arrested again in 1846, he refused to abandon his faith or disclose other Catholics’ whereabouts. He died after severe punishment in Seoul on September 20, 1846.
