About Peter Wang Zuolong
Peter Wang Zuolong was born in Shuangzhong, Hebei, in 1842. He came from a Catholic family and attended a seminary as a boy, although the account does not identify him as an ordained priest.
During the attacks of 1900 he was captured in his village and offered freedom if he abandoned Catholicism. The church account relates that he refused, endured torture, and was killed near the village. The source gives conflicting June and July dates, so only the year is retained. He was canonized in 2000 with the Chinese martyrs.
