Peter Wu Anbang

About Peter Wu Anbang
Peter Wu Anbang was born in Liu-lin-tsuen, Shanxi, in 1860. He entered the seminary at Taiyuan but later left, remaining an unmarried layman and joining the Franciscan Third Order. He worked for the cathedral community and taught catechism to poor people.
Wu also helped copy mission documents and wrote devotional material. His work brought him into close contact with Bishop Gregorio Grassi and the local mission. He was killed in Taiyuan on 9 July 1900. He was canonized in 2000 with the Chinese martyrs.
