About Petrus Zhu Rixin
Petrus Zhu Rixin was born in East Zhujiahe, Hebei, in 1881. The second son of Zhu Yuting, he was baptized Peter and studied in a nearby village.
During the attacks of 1900, he was among Catholics sheltering in the village church. After the building burned, survivors were taken captive and pressed to abandon their faith. The church account remembers Zhu refusing those demands before his execution. Sources differ on the July day, so only the month is retained. He was canonized in 2000 with the Chinese martyrs.
