About Rose Fan Hui
Rose Fan Hui was born in Fan, Hebei, in 1855 and baptized that year. She became a schoolteacher. When violence forced her school to close in 1900, she returned home and hid in fields near a river.
The church account describes an assault by men who then summoned Boxers. Rose refused their demand that she renounce her faith and was killed. She was canonized in 2000.
