Silvanus the Schemamonk of the Kiev Caves

About Silvanus the Schemamonk of the Kiev Caves

Silvanus belonged to the Kiev Far Caves tradition in the thirteenth or fourteenth century. The Orthodox Church in America's notice remembers him through a single episode: robbers entered the monastery garden, were held motionless through his prayer, and were released after repentance. This is a received miracle story, not an independently documented incident. It places reconciliation at the center of his remembrance, but supplies no exact life dates or wider personal chronology.
