Wulfhild of Barking

About Wulfhild of Barking
Wulfhild was a late tenth-century abbess of Barking. Her memory became part of the abbey’s worship alongside those of Æthelburh and Hildelith.
In the late eleventh century, Goscelin of Saint-Bertin composed a life of Wulfhild and an account of the movement of her relics. These writings belonged to a collection commissioned by Abbess Ælfgifu to honour the community’s saints.
Barking’s later liturgical record commemorated her on September 9 and the translation of her relics on September 2.
