About David Uribe Velasco
David Uribe Velasco was born in Buenavista de Cuéllar, Guerrero, on 29 December 1889. He entered the seminary in 1903 and was ordained in 1913. Political violence displaced him from several appointments before he became parish priest of Iguala.
After his arrest, he was offered freedom if he accepted a position in a government-sponsored church separated from Rome. He refused. On 12 April 1927 he was killed near San José Vistahermosa in Morelos. He was canonized in 2000.
