Francis Diaz

About Francis Diaz
Francis Diaz was a Spanish Dominican who entered religious life at Écija. He travelled to the Philippines and then to Fujian in China, where ill health and dangerous conditions made his missionary work difficult. Christian households supported him, and Francis Serrano was an important companion.
Although he received permission to return to Manila, he remained in the mission. He was later imprisoned with other Dominican clergy at Fuzhou and died there in 1748. He was canonized in 2000 with the Chinese martyrs.
