About John of Triora

John of Triora, also known as John Lantrua, was an Italian Franciscan priest. Before travelling abroad, he taught theology and held responsibility for a religious community near Rome. He volunteered for the Chinese mission and reached Macao in 1799.

He served in Hunan and later in Shanxi. His ministry ended with imprisonment and execution at Changsha in 1816. The Holy See records his death on 7 February. His remains were subsequently transferred to the Franciscan church of Aracoeli in Rome.
