About José María Robles Hurtado
José María Robles Hurtado was born in Mascota, Jalisco, on 3 May 1888. He entered the seminary as a child and was ordained in 1913. Devotion to the Sacred Heart shaped his writing and ministry. In 1918 he founded the Sisters of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus.
Robles served as parish priest of Tecolotlán. During persecution he was arrested and taken into the mountains near Quila, where he was hanged on 26 June 1927. He was canonized in 2000 with the Mexican martyrs.
