Joseph Yuan

About Joseph Yuan
Joseph Yuan was a Chinese priest from Sichuan. After baptism and seminary study, he learned pastoral work alongside Gabriel-Taurin Dufresse and was ordained in 1795. His appointments took him to several districts, where persecution and unrest sometimes forced him to seek shelter on farms.
Arrest ended this itinerant ministry. The church account describes pressure to abandon his faith and disclose the whereabouts of other clergy. He refused and was executed. The Holy See records his death in June 1817.
