About Julio Álvarez Mendoza
Julio Álvarez Mendoza was born in Guadalajara on 20 December 1866. Ordained in 1894, he spent his priestly life serving the rural parish of Mechoacanejo. He visited outlying farms, taught practical crafts, and used his tailoring skills to provide clothing for people in need.
During persecution, soldiers recognized him as a priest while he was traveling to a farm. He was taken through several towns before being brought to San Julián. There he was executed on 30 March 1927. He was canonized in 2000 with the Mexican martyrs.
