About Luis Batis Sáinz
Luis Batis Sáinz was born in San Miguel del Mezquital, Zacatecas, on 13 September 1870. Ordained in 1894, he served at Chalchihuites. His parish work included a workshop for workers, a school for children, and instruction in the Catholic faith.
In August 1926 he was arrested with Manuel Morales, Salvador Lara Puente, and David Roldán Lara. They were taken to Puerto de Santa Teresa and executed on 15 August. The church account remembers Batis appealing for Morales's life because he had a wife and children. Batis was canonized in 2000.
