Biography
Martyrius the Deacon of the Kiev Caves
About Martyrius the Deacon of the Kiev Caves
Martyrius is remembered as a deacon in the tradition of the Kiev Far Caves. The Orthodox Church in America's short notice directs attention to the seventh ode of the community's liturgical canon. It praises his work, justice, and purity, and attributes healing and deliverance from demons to him. These are statements of received veneration. The notice supplies no exact life dates or sequence of personal events from which a fuller chronology could be reconstructed.
