Paul Denn
About Paul Denn
Paul Denn grew up in Lille after the early death of his father. He worked in a bank from adolescence to help support his mother and siblings, while participating in parish organisations and activities for local workers. Family responsibilities delayed his wish to enter religious life.
He joined the Jesuits in 1872 and later served in the Chinese mission. His life ended at Zhujiahe during the Boxer uprising in 1900. He was canonized in 2000 with the Chinese martyrs.
