About Tranquilino Ubiarco Robles
Tranquilino Ubiarco Robles was born in Zapotlán el Grande, Jalisco, on 8 July 1899. Seminary closures interrupted his education, which continued in private homes. Ordained in 1923, he established a religious newspaper and a soup kitchen for poor people and refugees.
At Tepatitlán he celebrated Mass in homes during persecution. He was arrested while preparing to celebrate Mass and a wedding. On 5 October 1928 he was hanged near the town. He was canonized in 2000 with the Mexican martyrs.
