Pimen of Palestine

About Pimen of Palestine
Pimen lived in a cave in the Rouba desert of Palestine during the sixth century. The Orthodox calendar points to the account of him in chapter 167 of The Spiritual Meadow, associated with John Moschus and Sophronius.
The story tells of a visitor who suffered from the cold while Pimen said that a lion had kept him warm. It also attributes to Pimen remorse over a man killed by his dogs during his earlier work as a shepherd. According to the same tradition, Pimen later died after an attack by wild animals. These episodes are preserved as a monastic narrative. The consulted notice places his death near the end of the sixth century, without giving an exact year.
