About Aileran
Aileran was an Irish scholar associated with the school at Clonard in the seventh century. The church biography describes knowledge of Latin, Greek and early Christian writers.
His remembered works include an interpretation of Christ’s genealogy in Matthew and a moral explanation of biblical names. The source records his death during the plague in 664 and notes its appearance in the Annals of Ulster.
