Dalmatius of Pavia

About Dalmatius of Pavia
Dalmatius is traditionally called a bishop of Pavia and a martyr of the Roman persecutions. The title is uncertain: his name does not appear in Pavia’s episcopal list.
His veneration is associated more securely with Pedona, where a basilica dedicated to him drew pilgrims. A late life describes a cleric who preached there.
He may have been a local missionary rather than a bishop. The date and circumstances of his death cannot be settled from the conflicting traditions. December 5 may commemorate his death or the enshrinement of his remains.
